Quokka

Have fun meeting one of the world’s most smiling marsupials — the quokka! This cute, cat-sized animal from Australia hops around, climbs shrubs, and munches on leaves. Known as the “happiest animal in the world,” quokkas surprise us with their friendly faces and unique behaviors.

• Quokkas are herbivores (plant-eaters) and mostly active at night.

• They live mainly on Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia.

• Their happy appearance comes from a natural curve of the mouth, making them look like they’re always smiling!
