Crabs are invertebrates which means they have no backbone. All crabs are covered by hard shells that protect their internal organs. Their gills , which they use to pull oxygen from the water, are hidden inside their shells. Crabs are related to insects and spiders , but crabs have more legs than their creepy -crawly cousins .. Did you know that Crabs are also known as spiders of the sea? Crabs have ten legs and are referred to as decapods .The front two legs of the crab are usually claws and are not used for locomotion or movement. Crabs are most comfortable moving sideways, but they can also walk forward and backwards.
